WHAT IS FREESTYLE SOCCER:
Freestyle football, also known as freestyle soccer in North America, is the art of self-expression through creatively juggling a soccer ball using any parts of the body, excluding the elbows to the hands. It combines football tricks, dance, acrobatics and music to entertain onlookers and compete with opponents.
HISTORY:
Football Freestyle is the art of doing tricks with a football. However if you scratch the surface you'll soon discover that it's more than just tricks. For freestylers today it's an art form, a sport and a lifestyle. It's difficult to pin point the exact moment in time where freestyle truly began. Freestylers began to realise that there were no rules and no limitations.
TYPES OF TRICKS:
Freestyle tricks are divided into five main categories:
-
Upperbody (head, chest and shoulders
-
Lowerbody or Air Moves (juggling with the legs
-
Sitdown (juggling while sitting)
-
Ground moves (grounded dribbling moves)
-
Blocking tricks are performed by holding the ball with various parts of the lower body. It is a style inspired by breakdancing
