Youth (U8-U12) Playing Up/Down
The Futuro Soccer Academy strives to develop players according to the Long Term Player Development (“LTPD”) principles as put forward by the Ontario Soccer Association. Decisions about “playing-up” or “playing down” reflect this commitment.
Playing up should be encouraged when appropriate for development purposes. Players will be encouraged, when in the best interest of the player, to play up within the tiers of their own age group at the competitive levels, which begin at U9. No playing up is permitted at the recreational levels at these age groups.
U4 to U7
No playing up.
U8 to U12
Players at these ages may be called to play up to an older age group competitive team, subject to team requirements and agreement between the respective coaches, according to the Player Evaluation Form
*A maximum of 2 underage players are permitted to play on a U9-U12 game day roster once the evaluation process is complete. A maximum of 3 U12 players are permitted to play on a U13 roster. Players cannot play two years above their age group.
Playing “Down” an age group at the U8-13 recreational level
In exceptional circumstances, following a request by the parent, a child may play at a year lower than their chronological age, as a result of factors that clearly indicate that a child’s developmental age makes that individual more suited to play at the younger age group. This decision will only be made at the application of the parent, and with the agreement of the Club recreational coach and Club technical director. This decision shall apply on a one season basis only. Requests can be made to the club's technical director at sanjeev@parmarsportstraining.com
